I wont be having family there. My fiance and I can’t afford to touch wedding money for engagement event so our friends will buy their own meals.We need 2 different types of invitesMIL wants the invites to be from grooms mum and dad. Do I put my parents names on it too even though they are not going to be there and are not paying for her family?The other invites will be from us. Is this the best way to word it.. In lieu of gifts we ask that you pay for your own meal All our friends we have spoken to are cool with paying for their own meal. But it will be a bit strange when some people are getting a free meal and others aren’t should I spread to word to my friends about the situation with her paying for his family.I know people say engagements aren’t gift giving events but MIL insists that we get some we really don’t want any.
